    Notes
    • Since the inventory to Joshua Allender's will in 1748 is signed by Thomas Allender and Joseph Allender with a notation “nearest of kin", it is thought the three must be brothers. This Thomas Allender must then be the same Thomas who in 1750 bought from William Varghwart the land called Freeland's Mount, in Harford County (deed written/filed in Baltimore County) where the brothers had employment at the iron works. Freeland's Mount was located on the north side of Deer Creek in Harford County, close to land owned by John Allender. The land sale shows Thomas to be a Hammer man. He had a son, William, who in 1790 inherited the land and sold it to William Morgan, a promient figure in the history of Maryland.
By the time of the 1790 Census, Freeland's Mount is owned by the son of Thomas, William (b. 1740), and no Thomas appears as Head of Household on the 1790 Census. On that Census, the household is headed by William (b. 1740) and consists of three adult male, 1 male under 16, 7 females, and 8 slaves. On 4 Dec 1790, Freeland's Mount is sold by William Allender to William Morgan along with the eight slaves.
