The land originally 420 acres known as Darling Sale was divided into 7 sixty acre lots and decided by lottery after John Charlton's death for distribution among his children. Margaret retained the original homestead, Lot no. 1.
Anna Allender, sister to Thomas, married George Webb, son of Margaret, in Washington County, Pennsylvania, 27 Oct 1807.

Text: "In the late 1830's, my father's uncle, Richard Allender and Wesley Green, a good friend of his, both of McConnellsburg, Pa., (then young men) came west to Iowa Territory to acquire land. They decided on southeastern Iowa and went back home to McConnellsburg, Pa., with glowing accounts of this land and persuaded their families to leave their homes there and to come and make new homes here. Thomas Allender, my great-grandfaather, was a wagonmaker in McConnellsburg. The Green families were farmer. Both young men had staked out land so their families would have a place to settle.
A wagon train was formed and both families included, so the men came to the same neighborhood in the early 1840's at the same time. My grandparents were young people coming with their parents (my great-grandparents) in these covered wagons. My grandparents were Samuel Allender and Eliza Jane Green."...
"This Allender farm has been owned more than 133 years by this family. My grandfather, Samuel Allender gave the land upon which the Richwoods church was built."
