    • Another John Allender appears on the 1850 Census as a three year old in the home of Thomas and (Loftus) Allender. Thomas is a brother to James and it is assumed James and Hanna adopted John, after the death of Thomas, since John is shown with them on the 1860 and 1870 Census and on the 1880 Census, Hannah is living in his household after the death of her husband, James.
      Undoubtedly, it is Hannah who has arranged for the Claytons to care for James, the youngest child left orphaned by the death of his parents. Clayton family is shown living next to Williams family on earlier Censues
